In New Westminster, BC, some businesses quietly become part of everyday life. Belmont Dental Centre is one of them. With more than 60 years of history, the clinic has built trust through consistency, care, and familiarity. For more than 25 years, it has operated from Royal City Shopping Centre, serving patients who fit dental visits into daily routines.
Inside, the clinic feels busy but calm. Families come in for cleanings. Seniors stop by between errands. Emergencies are handled quickly when possible. The focus is simple: make dental care easier, more comfortable, and accessible for the New Westminster community.
The Story Behind the Business
Belmont Dental Centre began on Belmont Street, which is where its name comes from. Over the years, the practice has changed locations and ownership, but its purpose has stayed the same. When it moved into the mall, accessibility became a key advantage. Patients could combine appointments with shopping or other medical visits.
Today, the clinic is led by an owner dentist supported by several associates and a large team. Nicole, the office manager, keeps the clinic running smoothly and still assists chairside when needed. That hands-on involvement reflects the clinic’s culture.
Teamwork and communication matter here. From the front desk greeting to the final check-out, patients are guided through each visit with care. That consistency helps people feel supported, even during stressful dental appointments.
Products & Services
Belmont Dental Centre offers a full range of general dental services. Cleanings, fillings, and preventative care make up most visits. The clinic also provides implants, extractions, dentures, and Invisalign-style aligners.
One thing that sets the practice apart is how much care stays in-house. A denturist visits weekly, and a root canal specialist comes in monthly. This reduces the need for outside referrals and keeps treatment plans simpler for patients.
Cleanings remain the most common reason people visit. Many patients feel strongly connected to their hygienist and return regularly for preventative care. From there, the team helps manage any additional needs with a clear, patient-first approach.
Community Connection
Belmont Dental Centre believes in staying rooted in New Westminster. Rather than focusing heavily on online promotion, the clinic relies on long-term presence, word of mouth, and local involvement.
That mindset extends to community support. The team prefers to sponsor events and initiatives close to home. Supporting Bevies & Bites fits naturally into that approach. It is a local event that brings residents and businesses together, reflecting the same sense of connection the clinic values.
Over the years, the clinic has also supported the farmers market, Rotary initiatives, school events, and youth activities. During the holidays, a gift basket raffle raises funds for the food bank, with donations matched by the clinic. Each effort is chosen with local impact in mind.

Mindset or Philosophy
Comfort and prevention guide the clinic’s philosophy. The team takes time to listen, especially to patients who feel anxious about dental care. Understanding concerns comes before treatment.
Prevention is equally important. Regular cleanings and early care help reduce pain, stress, and cost over time. The clinic also educates patients about the link between oral health and overall health, helping them make informed choices.
After decades of service, Belmont Dental Centre remains a steady presence in New Westminster, BC. With seven-day availability, in-house services, and a compassionate team, the clinic continues to put patient care first.
From long-standing trust to meaningful community support, Belmont Dental Centre continues to care for New Westminster—one smile at a time.

Drivers in New Westminster should prepare for major travel changes in early February, as both the Pattullo Bridge and the new Stal̕əw̓asəm (Riverview) Bridge will close for approximately one full week, temporarily eliminating all vehicle crossings between New Westminster and Surrey at this location.
The closure is required to complete final roadway tie-ins on both sides of the Fraser River as part of the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project. While exact dates have not yet been announced, officials say the timing will be confirmed once weather conditions allow.
During the closure, traffic will be redirected to the Port Mann and Alex Fraser bridges, which are expected to see increased congestion. New Westminster residents—particularly those commuting to Surrey—are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider alternative routes or transit where possible.
Once the work is complete, four lanes of traffic will reopen across the river, split between the new and old bridges. Full opening of the Stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge, including the Royal Avenue on-ramp, is expected later in February.
More updates will be shared as dates are confirmed.
As winter temperatures dip, the City of New Westminster is making sure no one has to face the cold alone. The Nighttime Warming Centre at 40 Begbie Street will be open tonight, Friday, January 23, offering a safe and welcoming space for those who need warmth, rest, and support overnight.
When activated, the Nighttime Warming Centre operates from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, providing more than just shelter from the cold. Guests are invited to come in, dry off, warm up, and access essentials including mats, washrooms, hot coffee and drinks, food, and warm clothing.
Warming Centres are activated during periods of extreme winter weather, including:
Temperatures at or below 0°C, or
Snow accumulation combined with near-freezing conditions
