The New West International Film Festival is set to return October 24–26, 2025, bringing three days of independent cinema to Landmark Cinema in New Westminster. Now in its 15th year, the volunteer-run festival, organized by the New West Film Society, continues its mission of spotlighting bold storytelling, regional themes, and underrepresented voices.

This year’s lineup is rich with variety. The festival opens Friday night with Canada On…, a series of short films delving into identity, memory, and the meaning of home. Saturday offers a lively mix, starting with an imaginative Animation Block featuring titles like Bee and Ultimate Mecha. Later programs, such as A World of Experiences and Tales of the Unexpected, showcase emotionally charged and genre-bending narratives.

On Sunday, the spotlight turns toward mental health, pairing films with meaningful conversations on awareness and advocacy. The festival concludes with Celebrating Art in Canada, a closing night feature that highlights the vibrancy of Canadian creativity.

Beyond the screen, the event reflects a strong community ethos. As a non-profit initiative, the festival is dedicated to connecting local audiences with stories that resonate both regionally and globally.

To attend, moviegoers must first purchase a $2 membership, a standard requirement for non-profit film societies in British Columbia. Ticket sales will be available soon through the festival’s official website.
