New Westminster voters in the city’s west side will have an opportunity to meet local election candidates and hear about neighbourhood priorities at an upcoming All Candidates Meeting.
The Connaught Heights Residents Association and West End Residents Association are hosting the non-partisan event on Tuesday, September 29, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the basement of Connaught Heights Pentecostal Church, 2201 Eighth Avenue, near 22nd Street SkyTrain Station.
The meeting will bring together mayoral candidates, council candidates and school board nominees, giving residents a chance to hear from those seeking office ahead of the October 17, 2026 municipal election.
Organizers say the event will focus on the unique needs and concerns of residents in the west side of New Westminster, while giving candidates an opportunity to introduce themselves and share why they are running.
With advance polls beginning October 7, the meeting offers residents a chance to hear directly from candidates and make more informed choices before casting their ballots.

New Westminster is getting ready for a lively day of Ukrainian culture, music, food and community as the Ukrainian Festival takes over the area on Saturday, September 19. While visitors gather to celebrate, drivers should be prepared for major road closures around the festival site.
Starting at 8 a.m. and continuing until 11 p.m., full closures will be in place on Fourth Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets, along with part of the laneway behind 403 Sixth Street.
For residents and drivers, that means planning ahead. The City says the affected roads will be completely closed to vehicle traffic during the event, including for residents, so vehicles will not be permitted to enter the closed sections.
The closures will help create space for the festival as the neighbourhood comes alive with a celebration of Ukrainian heritage and community.
If you're heading out Saturday, consider taking an alternate route and giving yourself extra travel time.
