From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (doors open 9:30 a.m.), discover what it truly means to serve and protect. Meet passionate women professionals in policing and public safety, learn about training programs, scholarships, and career opportunities, and hear real stories from those who’ve turned their calling into a career.

📖 Celebrate Halloween with Dark Poetry, Storytelling, and a Costume Contest at RCLAS

The Royal City Literary Arts Society (RCLAS) is summoning poets, storytellers, and lovers of the mysterious to its annual Halloween event, “Poets Wanted: Dead or Alive”, happening Wednesday, October 29, at Centennial Lodge in Queen’s Park from 7:00–9:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.).

Hosted by Chelsea “Mothwoman” Comeau and Janet “Lady Raven” Kvammen, the evening blends eerie fun with literary flair. The lineup features the “Spooky Sisters” Gina Armstrong and Victoria Vancek of Haunted History BC, known for their award-winning paranormal storytelling and heritage work. Plus, author J.G. Chayko will share a chilling original short story.

Attendees can take the stage for the Open Mic, reading either their own dark and mysterious poem or a classic piece from a “dead poet.”

🎭 Costumes encouraged! A prize awaits the best-dressed guest.
