The City of New Westminster is developing its 2026–2030 Financial Plan, and residents and businesses are invited to help shape the priorities that will guide the years ahead.

Building on recent progress, the upcoming budget continues the City’s focus on financial sustainability, strong community engagement, and Council’s strategic priorities—while responding to the evolving needs of a growing and diverse population.

Public input is a key part of the process. The Financial Plan Bylaw was introduced on February 9, 2026, and the official public feedback window runs from February 10 to February 20, 2026.

All written submissions received during this period will be shared with Council and published. Feedback submitted outside the window will still be recorded and considered in future budget discussions.

This Black History Month, Jambo Boutique is inviting the community to gather, connect, and celebrate through the universal language of rhythm.

On Sunday, February 22 from 3 to 4 pm, The Rhythm Circle – Black History Month Special brings group drumming, percussion, and vocals to the heart of New Westminster. Facilitated by Abby of PulsePlayCircles.com, this energizing workshop blends fun rhythm games, collaborative drumming, and joyful jamming into one unforgettable hour.

No experience? No problem. As Abby says, if you have a heartbeat, you can drum. Beginners are warmly welcomed, and all drums and percussion instruments are provided (though guests are encouraged to bring a stool if they have one).

It’s more than a workshop — it’s a shared celebration of culture, connection, and community through music.
