City of New Westminster – Canada Day Event Info
On the afternoon of June 23rd, the New Westminster Police Department responded to reports of a large altercation involving youth at Moody Park. The incident, which occurred around 3:45 p.m., drew multiple 911 calls from concerned witnesses. Several callers expressed fear that at least one individual involved in the fight may have been armed, potentially with a firearm.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a youth who had been assaulted with bear spray. Immediate assistance was provided to the victim, and police initiated a search of the area to locate those responsible.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with firsthand knowledge of the incident to come forward. They are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who witnessed the event or may have surveillance footage capturing the suspects leaving the scene.
Community members with relevant information are encouraged to contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411 to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
