Music, Food and Culture Take Over New West
New Westminster will celebrate Ukrainian culture, food and community when Ukrainian New West Fest 2026 takes place on Saturday, September 19.
Hosted by Holy Eucharist Cathedral, the free festival will feature live music and performances, homemade Ukrainian food, a cultural exhibition highlighting the Ukrainian Canadian experience, and a kids’ zone with games and family activities.
Visitors can also enjoy a beer garden and social space while connecting with friends, neighbours and members of the Ukrainian community. Whether Ukrainian traditions are part of your family history or you’re discovering them for the first time, everyone is welcome.
The festival runs September 19 from 12–8 p.m. at 501 Fourth Avenue, New Westminster, with free admission. Donations are appreciated and will support community initiatives.
Looking for a meaningful way to connect with Indigenous teachings while getting creative? The New West Farmers Market is inviting the community to a special Medicine Wheel Workshop on September 24 at Tipperary Park.
From 5 to 6:30 p.m., participants will learn about the core concepts of the Medicine Wheel and traditional Indigenous teachings while creating their own wheel to take home.
The workshop will be led by Lorelei, an Indigenous educator with 2MetisWomen and a knowledge carrier for the North Fraser Métis Association.
With Truth and Reconciliation Day approaching, the session offers an opportunity to learn, reflect and explore the Medicine Wheel as a guide for understanding the different areas of life and working toward holistic wellbeing.
Participants will explore the physical, mental, social and spiritual aspects represented in the wheel, while considering personal strengths and areas where they may want to set goals.
It’s a hands-on evening that combines learning, creativity and reflection in the welcoming setting of Tipperary Park.
