โค๏ธ Why It Matters
The Making the Cut Charity Golf Classic began in 2013 with a simple yet powerful idea: that a small group of hospital staff could make a big impact in their community. What started as a grassroots effort has grown into a legacy of compassion and support.
In 2024 alone, the event raised $80,000, bringing the total to more than $620,000 โ all going toward better care for patients and their families during lifeโs most critical moments.
Every ticket bought, every bid placed, and every swing taken is a gesture of kindness that ripples through the hospital and the lives it touches.
Come for the golf โ stay for the impact.
๐จ String of Early Morning Break-Ins Prompts Heavy Police Response in Uptown New Westminster ๐ฎโโ๏ธ
A series of early morning break-ins sparked a major police response in New Westminsterโs Uptown neighbourhood on June 13. Between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., three businesses were targeted along 6th Street and 6th Avenue, prompting an intensive investigation and coordinated police activity across several locations.
The incidents occurred in quick succession โ first in the 300 block of 6th Street, followed by separate entries in the 600 and 700 blocks of 6th Avenue. Police officers from various units converged on the scenes to secure the areas and begin collecting evidence.
Specialized support was brought in to assist with the investigation. The New Westminster Police Departmentโs Forensic Identification Unit processed the crime scenes, while the Integrated Police Dog Service conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area.
At one point, officers were actively working at three different crime scenes within close proximity, drawing attention from local residents due to the heightened police presence.
Authorities are now working to determine whether the break-ins were committed by the same individual. The investigation remains ongoing.
Police are appealing to the public for help. Anyone with a dash cam or surveillance footage from the affected areas between 4:20 a.m. and 5:40 a.m. on June 13 is urged to contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
