City Tech Outage + Tournament Spam Alert

Effective October 21st at 2:00 pm, the City’s official website and select digital services were temporarily taken offline as a precautionary response to a global cybersecurity vulnerability impacting organizations worldwide.

Municipal officials confirmed that the temporary shutdown is a proactive measure to protect city systems and user data. Technical teams are currently working to restore full web functionality as quickly and safely as possible.

While digital services remain offline, community members are encouraged to check official City social media channels for ongoing service updates. We will keep our readers updated as more information becomes available.

UPDATE OCT. 22. 12:15 PM: The website has been restored. It may take some time to fully be visible to everyone; if you cannot access the site immediately, please wait a bit and try refreshing. Thank you everyone for your patience while we resolved this matter.

⚠ Beware of Tournament Spam: Alert from New Westminster Minor Hockey

The New Westminster Minor Hockey Association has issued a warning to the community regarding tournament spam.

Unverified tournament invitations—often sent from unknown numbers or suspicious senders—are asking recipients to join tournaments. Community members and hockey families are advised to take the following safety precautions:

Pause and verify: Always double-check the sender's identity before interacting with any tournament invitation.
Avoid suspicious links: Do not click on links provided in unexpected or unverified messages.
Protect personal information: Never share personal details through these unverified channels.

Stay vigilant and ensure all tournament communications are verified through official New Westminster Minor Hockey channels.
