This summer, a beloved New Westminster tradition is returning β and it needs a helping hand from the community.
The New Westminster Police Departmentβs Kids Summer Soccer School is looking for volunteer coaches to help create a fun, safe, and memorable experience for hundreds of local children.
Taking place from July 20 to 24 at Queenβs Park Stadium, the program will welcome around 300 kids aged 5 to 10 for a week of learning, teamwork, and play.
Volunteers (ages 11 and up) will work alongside police officers and staff to guide young players through activities, helping build confidence, friendships, and a love for the game. No soccer experience is required β just a willingness to show up, support, and have fun.
Coaches are asked to commit to all five days, with t-shirts, snacks, and drinks provided.
At its heart, this program is about more than soccer β itβs about community connection, mentorship, and creating positive summer memories for kids across New Westminster.
In New Westminster, some of the most meaningful moments happen when a community comes together, and this is one of them.
The upcoming Heels, Hearts & Hope Fundraiser on May 28 at Metro Hall is more than just an event. Itβs a night built on care, connection, and the desire to make a real difference, supporting Easter Seals Camps and a local child, Mavrik, in his cancer journey.
The evening will be filled with energy and heart, from drag performances and live entertainment to a shared meal, silent auction, and moments that bring people closer together.
But right now, the heart of this event is a call to the community.
Organizers are looking for local sponsors, businesses, and supporters to help bring this night to life. Every contribution, whether itβs a sponsorship, a donated auction item, or financial support, helps turn this event into something truly impactful.
For local businesses, itβs also a chance to stand alongside the community, showing support where it matters most and being part of something people will remember.
This is about more than one night. Itβs about showing up for one another and proving that when a community leads with heart, it can make a lasting difference.
