π¨ Colour Me Blue (In a Good Way!) Invites New West to Create, Connect, and Beat the January Blues
As winter settles in and the days grow shorter, a new community event is inviting New Westminster residents to turn the January blues into something meaningful, creative, and uplifting.
βColour Me Blue (In a Good Way!)β, presented by Will You Be My Neighbour?, is an Art & Expression Night designed to celebrate creativity, connection, and belonging. The event takes place on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Downtownβs Living Room, located inside the Anvil Centre (777 Columbia Street).
The evening will feature a variety of interactive creative stations, including colouring, Lego building, beading, origami, and digital drawing, offering something for all ages and comfort levels. At 5:30 p.m., the night kicks off with the Neighbour Bingo Connection Game, a fun and easy way to meet new people and spark conversation.
Later in the evening, at 6:45 p.m., attendees are invited to participate in βTiny Stories, Big Heart,β an open mic storytelling session where community members can share short, heartfelt stories or simply listen. Options for anonymous sharing and collective storytelling help ensure a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
The event also encourages local businesses and nonprofits to light up their spaces blue in solidarity, recognizing that winter can be challenging, but connection makes a difference.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free, inclusive evening β a reminder that even in the colder months, community warmth shines bright in New West.
New Westminster is set to welcome the tastes, traditions, and togetherness of Bengali culture this winter as BongMilanti β Metro Vancouver Bengali Cultural Association hosts its much-anticipated Poush Parbon Khaibar Pass (Khana Khajana) Festival.
Taking place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. at New Westminster Secondary School (835 8th Street), the event is celebrated as the largest Bengali food festival in Metro Vancouver. The evening promises a vibrant showcase of traditional Bengali cuisine alongside games, prizes, and activities designed for all ages.
Poush Parbon marks a special seasonal celebration rooted in food, harvest, and community. Festival-goers can look forward to a wide variety of authentic dishes served at food stalls, live music to set the mood, and interactive entertainment for children and families. The event offers an opportunity not only to enjoy delicious flavours but also to experience the warmth and cultural richness of the Bengali community.
The festival is free for BongMilanti members and open to registered guests only. Community members are encouraged to register in advance to secure their spot.
With food, music, games, and shared celebration, the Poush Parbon Khaibar Pass Festival promises to be a lively and welcoming winter gathering in the heart of New West.
