An evening of laughter, music, and meaningful connection is coming to New Westminster. Stand Up for Recovery 2026 takes place on Sunday, March 29, bringing the community together to celebrate healing, resilience, and life in recovery.
Hosted at Rick Bronsonβs House of Comedy, the event features a dynamic lineup of comedians, musicians, and performers, including headliner Simon King, along with special guests Kate Rice, Charlene Rose, and Jessica Joelle Pigeau. Live music by Orange Whip and lyricist KeHill will kick off the evening.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with music starting at 6:30 p.m. and the show running from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
More than just a night out, the event is a fundraiser for Recovery Day BC, supporting awareness and celebration of recovery journeys across the province. It also offers an opportunity for individuals and families to see what life can look like beyond addiction β filled with connection, creativity, and hope.
π Tickets are $20 plus fees.
Ever wondered what it takes to become a firefighter? The New Westminster Youth Firefighter Program is giving local students a chance to find out.
Open to students in Grades 10β12, this hands-on program offers a fire academy-style experience where participants will learn essential skills like firefighting techniques, first aid, and emergency response. Designed to be both challenging and fun, the program gives youth a real glimpse into life in the fire service.
Participants will take part in an immersive training week from July 6 to 10, working alongside professionals and gaining practical experience in a supportive environment.
The program is a collaboration between City of New Westminster Youth Services, New Westminster Firefighters, New Westminster Police, and the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC).
π Key Dates:
Application Deadline: May 16
Info Session: June 16
Training Week: July 6β10
Spots are limited, making this a great opportunity for students interested in emergency services or hands-on learning experiences.
