📬Community Mailboxes Coming to More New Westminster Neighbourhoods

Some New Westminster residents are beginning to receive notices from Canada Post about a significant change coming to their neighbourhoods.

Canada Post has started notifying households that door-to-door mail delivery will eventually be replaced with community mailboxes, with the transition expected to begin in late 2027.

According to the notice, the change is part of Canada Post's plan to modernize its delivery network and create a more financially sustainable postal service. Over the coming months, Canada Post says it will identify safe and accessible locations for new community mailboxes and will notify affected residents of their assigned mailbox location before the change takes effect.

The notice also states that customers will receive the keys to their secure mailbox compartments in advance of the transition.

For residents with accessibility needs, Canada Post says its Delivery Accommodation Program will continue to provide support, including accessible mailbox features or, in some cases, home delivery for those who qualify.

Community mailboxes provide secure compartments for letters and parcels, with dedicated lockers for larger packages and 24-hour access.

🎈🎉Sapperton Park to Host Free Community Celebration for Kids

A fun-filled afternoon is on the way for families in New Westminster!

Children and their families are invited to Sapperton Park on Saturday, July 25, for a free Kids Celebration Day featuring games, treats, and plenty of family-friendly fun.

Hosted by Patricia ER and Roberto Saldaña, with support from Neighbourhood Small Grants New Westminster and Artistic, the community event is designed to bring neighbours together while celebrating the city's youngest residents.

Kids can look forward to face painting, a piñata smash, snacks, and a variety of fun activities throughout the afternoon. Organizers encourage families to come out, meet their neighbours, and enjoy a welcoming community gathering.

The event is free and open to everyone.
