The New Westminster Police Department has shared an update on an investigation following the discovery of a deceased man in the city’s Downtown neighbourhood. The body was found on April 29 near the intersection of Stewardson Way and Quebec Street.
After a thorough investigation led by the Major Crime Unit in collaboration with the BC Coroners Service, authorities have confirmed that the death was not the result of foul play. Medical examinations were conducted as part of the process to determine the circumstances.
The investigation involved coordinated efforts from the Major Crime Unit, the Forensic Identification Unit, and patrol officers. Officials acknowledged the emotional impact on the man’s family and expressed hope that the investigation’s outcome offers some measure of comfort during this difficult time.
Authorities extended their appreciation to the BC Coroners Service for its role in the inquiry, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency cooperation in reaching a conclusive outcome.

Explore the underwater wonders of the Fraser! Meet salmon and sturgeon, discover aquatic ecosystems, and learn how we can help protect this vibrant habitat.
Note: The August session is 4 days due to BC Day.
🧪 Science of the Fraser
Dates: July 14–18 & August 11–15
Bubbling beakers and wild experiments await! Campers become junior scientists as they dive into biology, chemistry, geology, and physics—all through the lens of the mighty Fraser River.
🌿 Surviving the Fraser
Dates: July 21–25 & August 18–22
Adventure awaits! Learn Indigenous survival skills like shelter-building, foraging, natural navigation, and more. It’s a week of outdoor fun and ancient knowledge!
🐟 Underwater Adventure
Dates: July 28–August 1 & August 25–29
Become a river hero! Discover how pollution and invasive species affect river life—and how kids can help. Expect hands-on conservation projects and creative ways to protect our planet.
