New Westminster Police are asking the community for help after an elderly woman was found injured near Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue on September 8.
At approximately 2:50 p.m., a police officer was alerted to a report of a person down at the intersection. Officers arrived and found a woman in her late 70s on the ground with a leg injury. She was taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigators are now working to understand what happened and are hoping to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or stopped to help the woman before first responders arrived.
Police believe there may have been several people in the area at the time, and even seemingly minor details could help investigators piece together what led to the woman’s injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, assisted the woman or may have relevant information is asked to contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
October is Canadian Library Month, and the New Westminster Public Library is celebrating by giving the community a chance to shout out what makes libraries so special.
This year’s theme, “Loud for Libraries,” is all about showing some love for libraries and the important role they play in our communities. Whether it’s a favourite corner to read, a helpful librarian, a great program or simply having a welcoming place to spend time, the library wants to hear what makes it meaningful to you.
New West residents can join the celebration by leaving a shout-out in the library’s social media comments or creating their own post. You can even share a selfie from your favourite spot in the library and tell the community why you love it!
To make sure the New Westminster Public Library sees your post, tag @nwplibrary and include #CanadianLibraryMonth.
So this October, don’t keep your library love quiet. 📚🙌 Get loud, share your story and celebrate the places that help New West read, learn, connect and discover.
