Arts New West is presenting Visual Dialogue on Death & Dying, a community exhibition exploring death, dying, grief and loss through art. Featuring artists from across the Lower Mainland, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the many ways people experience and express grief — reminding us that there is no single right way to navigate loss.
The exhibition runs November 2–29, 2026, at the Gallery at Queen’s Park, with gallery hours Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, November 5, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., offering an opportunity to experience the exhibition and engage with its thoughtful themes.
The showcase is part of the fifth annual Dialogue on Death & Dying, organized around community workshops and engagement from November 2–13. The initiative is led by the New West Hospice Society, which works to encourage compassionate community conversations about end-of-life experiences and supporting loved ones.
By bringing art and community together, the exhibition creates space for reflection, connection and more open conversations about subjects that can be difficult to discuss.
For details about the broader Dialogue on Death & Dying program, visit the New West Hospice Society website.
Construction is set to begin this week on Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Streets in New Westminster, bringing new walking and cycling improvements to the area between Columbia Street and London Street.
The project is part of the City’s Active Transportation Network Plan, with designs adjusted following public feedback gathered in summer 2025.
Planned upgrades include traffic diverters, speed cushions, improved sidewalks, quick-build protected bike lanes, and signal and street lighting improvements. Work will start on Ninth Street with the installation of speed cushions.
Construction is expected to run from October 2026 through spring 2027, weather permitting. Work hours are Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Saturday work possible from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Residents, commuters and local businesses should prepare for temporary lane closures, parking restrictions and traffic pattern changes. The City says access to homes and businesses, along with garbage and recycling services, will be maintained throughout construction.
People travelling through the area are encouraged to follow posted signs and detours. Updates are available through the City of New Westminster’s Roadworks page.
