Go Hyacks Go!

New Westminster will be well represented at the 2026 Football BC Provincial Flag Championships as athletes and coaches from RCHFC Hyacks Youth Football head to Kamloops on June 6 and 7 to compete against top teams from across the province.

After months of practices, games, and teamwork, Hyacks players have earned the opportunity to showcase their skills on one of B.C.’s biggest youth football stages. The provincial tournament brings together teams from communities across British Columbia, giving young athletes a chance to compete, learn, and represent their hometown with pride.

For many players, the championship marks the culmination of a season defined by dedication, growth, and community support. The program also highlights the important role youth sports continue to play in New Westminster by fostering teamwork, leadership, confidence, and lasting friendships.

As families, coaches, and volunteers prepare for the trip to Kamloops, the New Westminster community will be cheering them on every step of the way.

Good luck to all the Hyacks athletes and coaches competing at Provincials — and Go Hyacks Go!

Looking for a fun way to spend your Sunday? Local cyclists are invited to hit the road for the upcoming CAPs Club Ride to the Two-Wheeled Bike Museum, a community ride that combines fitness, exploration, and great company.

The approximately 60-kilometre ride will take participants on a scenic route from New Westminster to the popular bike museum destination, offering riders a chance to enjoy the outdoors while connecting with fellow cycling enthusiasts.

Organized by local ride leader Nicole Braun, the event welcomes riders who are ready for a moderate challenge and a morning of adventure. Participants are encouraged to arrive with a fully functioning bike, nutrition, and plenty of enthusiasm for the journey ahead.

The group will meet at 428 Old Dewdney Trunk Frontage Road and depart at 9 a.m. on June 7. New riders are asked to complete the required waiver before attending.

Whether you're looking to log some kilometres, discover a unique destination, or simply enjoy a social ride with the cycling community, this Sunday outing promises a memorable day on two wheels.
