FRDC 50/50 Raffle + Truth & Reconciliation

A little luck could make a big difference this fall! The Fraser River Discovery Centre (FRDC) has brought back its annual 50/50 raffle, giving participants a chance to win while supporting programs that celebrate and connect people with the Fraser River.

The jackpot will continue growing until the winner is drawn on October 22, 2026, with tickets available until October 21.

Every ticket purchased helps the FRDC deliver engaging environmental education and public programs, bringing the Fraser River’s stories to life and inspiring the next generation of river stewards.

It’s a chance to add some excitement to your fall while supporting a local organization dedicated to helping people better understand and appreciate the Fraser River.

🧡 New West to Mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at Queen’s Park

New Westminster will come together on September 30 for a day of learning, reflection, remembrance and cultural celebration at Queen’s Park South Field.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., inviting people of all ages to take part in a meaningful day focused on understanding history and honouring Indigenous communities.

The day begins with guest speakers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a teaching powwow with the Buffalo Thunder Group from 1 to 3 p.m., featuring drumming, dancing and teachings. The afternoon concludes with a canoe being put to sleep ceremony from 3 to 4 p.m.

Local vendors and food trucks will also be on site, giving attendees an opportunity to connect, learn and support local businesses.

The free event is presented by the Spirit of the Children Society, QayQayt First Nation and the City of New Westminster, with partial funding from the Government of Canada.
