The Fraser River’s rich history, people and industries will take centre stage on October 20 as the Fraser River Discovery Centre hosts its annual Fraser River Hall of Fame gala at the D/6 Lounge at Parq Vancouver.
This year’s event will honour SAAM Towage, a company with deep roots in B.C.’s towing industry. Its history can be traced through Rivtow Marine, Tiger Tugz and Westminster Tugboats, with Rivtow itself growing from the amalgamation of several B.C. towing companies with histories dating back more than 75 years.
Established in 1991 by the Fraser River Discovery Centre Society, the Fraser River Hall of Fame recognizes individuals and organizations for significant contributions to the health and sustainability of the Fraser River, its culture, people, industry and environment.
The gala is also a chance to support the Fraser River Discovery Centre’s work. Proceeds help fund its education and public programs, bringing the Fraser River’s stories and importance to the community.
Tickets are now on sale, with early-bird pricing available through August 31. A partial tax receipt will be issued to ticket holders after the event.
Got something handmade, homemade or delicious to sell? Buchanan Lodge is looking for vendors for its upcoming Fall Fair Craft and Bake Sale.
The Salvation Army Buchanan Lodge is inviting local vendors to set up shop at its Fall Fair Craft and Bake Sale on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28 at 409 Blair Avenue in New Westminster. The two-day event offers an opportunity for crafters, bakers and small vendors to showcase their creations and connect with the community ahead of the holiday season.
Vendors can rent a 72" x 29" table for $40 or a 34" x 34" card table for $25. The rental price covers both days, giving vendors plenty of time to share their products with shoppers.
The fair runs Friday from 1–4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., making it a great opportunity to get your holiday products in front of local shoppers while supporting a community event at Buchanan Lodge.
