🎉🚆 New Westminster Riders Get Free Transit on New Year’s Eve

Residents of New Westminster will be able to ring in 2026 without worrying about fares, as TransLink is offering free transit across Metro Vancouver on New Year’s Eve, beginning at 5 p.m. on December 31 and running until 5 a.m. on January 1.

During the free period, SkyTrain and SeaBus fare gates will be open, and no Compass Card or payment will be required on buses, SkyTrain, SeaBus, or West Coast Express. Riders starting trips before 5 p.m. are reminded to tap out as usual.

Service will be extended throughout the night, including extra buses, longer SkyTrain hours, and frequent SeaBus sailings. NightBus routes will operate all night, serving key areas including New Westminster, Surrey, Burnaby, and Vancouver. Two early evening West Coast Express trains from Waterfront will also be free.

Additional staff, Transit Police, and security officers will be on hand to assist customers, helping ensure a safe and smooth ride home for New Year’s celebrations.
