The animals at New Westminster Animal Services are celebrating the holiday season with a little extra sparkle this year—they’ve officially shared their Holiday Wish List, filled with the treats, toys, and comforts that help keep them healthy and happy while they wait for their forever homes.

The list includes favourites for dogs, such as durable chews, dehydrated treats, puzzle bowls, and soft toys. Cats are hoping for cardboard scratchers, Churu tubes, interactive puzzle feeders, treats, cozy tents, and climbing trees. The shelter’s small animals are wishing for healthy snacks, timothy hay mats, cardboard hideouts, enrichment toys, and Oxbow adult rabbit pellets.

New Westminster residents have long supported local shelter animals, helping ensure warm beds, full bellies, and plenty of enrichment throughout the year. As the holidays approach, NWAS is expressing heartfelt gratitude for the community’s ongoing compassion and generosity.

With every donation—large or small—New West continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals who depend on this collective kindness.

New Westminster residents are invited to lift their voices and celebrate the season at the 4th Annual Holiday Sing-along, taking place on Saturday, December 13 at 1 p.m. at the Sanctuary on 6th, located at 6th Street and Queens Avenue. This community gathering brings neighbours together for an afternoon of festive music and feel-good holiday spirit.

Guests are encouraged to bring new socks in support of The Purpose Society, helping local residents in need during the winter months. The event will also feature treats for sale and a selection of silent auction items, offering a fun opportunity to pick up a unique holiday gift while supporting community programs.

Designed as a warm, welcoming celebration for all ages, the sing-along aims to spark joy, connection, and seasonal cheer in the heart of New West.
