A well-known heritage home in New Westminster’s Queen’s Park neighbourhood is on the market for $1.425 million, offering buyers a major restoration project.

The 5,108-square-foot property at 239 Fourth St. includes a 2,068-square-foot Victorian Gothic-style home built in 1893. The house has attracted attention over the years because of its deteriorated condition and broken windows.

The listing describes the property as having extensive structural deficiencies and being unsuitable for occupancy in its current state. It is being sold “as-is, where-is.”

The home is a protected property within the Queen’s Park Conservation Area, meaning any renovation, redevelopment or demolition would require City approval. The City expects the heritage home to be retained and restored.

Potential options could include adding a basement, constructing an addition or, where permitted, building a laneway home. A future owner could also apply for rezoning or a Heritage Revitalization Agreement for additional housing, subject to council consideration and heritage requirements.

For a buyer with the resources and vision, the property presents a rare—and substantial—heritage restoration opportunity.

Looking for a relaxing way to spend Sunday morning? A new Yoga & Textured Art Picnic is bringing movement, creativity and a laid-back outdoor experience to Queen’s Park on August 30.

Hosted by YogaLife, the two-hour event will feature a 45-minute guided yoga session followed by a one-hour textured art workshop. Participants will create their own simple floral textured artwork to take home.

No previous yoga or art experience is required. Both sessions are beginner-friendly and fully guided, with all art materials provided.

The experience also includes refreshing drinks, light snacks and time to unwind outdoors.

The event is open to all ages, and organizers are encouraging attendees to bring a friend, family member or loved one. Groups of two can receive 10% off their tickets, while solo attendees are also welcome to come meet new people.

The Yoga & Textured Art Picnic takes place Sunday, August 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Queen’s Park Arena in New Westminster. Doors open at 10:45 a.m.
