This has been quite a week for the New West Spotlight.

In just a few days, we reached four milestones:

Each milestone means something different, but they all happened for the same reason: you keep showing up.

You open the newsletter, share stories, support local businesses, tell us about events, send in news tips and join the fun in How Well Do You Know New West?

When the New West Spotlight began, the goal was simple: to help people feel more connected to what is happening right here in New Westminster.

Every new subscriber, comment, share and game entry tells us that this little local newsletter is doing exactly that.

The 200,000 Facebook views are exciting, but the number that matters most is the number of local people taking part. You recognize the businesses in the game. You cheer for the winners. You discover events, organizations and places you may not have known about before.

Most importantly, you help us shine a brighter spotlight on the people and businesses that make New Westminster such a special place to live.

Thank you for reading, playing, sharing and encouraging us along the way.

These four milestones belong to all of you.

Local artists are invited to explore themes of death, dying, grief, and loss through the New Westminster Hospice Society's annual Visual Dialogue on Death & Dying exhibition, returning this November.

Presented in partnership with Century House Association, Arts New West, and New West Artists, the community exhibition will be displayed at Century House and the Gallery at Queen's Park throughout November. The initiative aims to foster meaningful conversations about end-of-life experiences through art, workshops, and community programming.

Artists are encouraged to submit an original 8" x 8", 10" x 10", or 12" x 12" piece that reflects one or more of the exhibition's themes. All artistic mediums will be considered, and artists who participated last year are asked to submit new work. Participants may also choose to sell their artwork, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the artist.

The submission deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m., and organizers encourage local artists to share their unique perspectives through this thoughtful community exhibition.
