On October 25, 2025, Mount Zion Lutheran Church (930 Cumberland Street) will host a meaningful evening of cultural sharing and community gathering at the Indigenous Harvest Dinner, taking place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Lower Hall.
Guests will be served a warm, traditional meal of hearty venison stew and fresh bannock β a nourishing way to mark the fall harvest season. This free event invites people of all backgrounds to come together in a spirit of learning and reflection. Donations are welcome, with all proceeds going to support the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS).
The evening will also feature teachings from Steven Seegerts, Director of Urban Aboriginal Ministry, who will guide attendees through the symbolism and wisdom of the Medicine Wheel. A smudging ceremony β an Indigenous spiritual practice for cleansing and connection β will also be held as part of the eveningβs program.
Blending food, culture, and ceremony, the Indigenous Harvest Dinner offers an opportunity to engage with Indigenous traditions in a welcoming and respectful space while supporting an important cause.
Families and community members are invited to experience a festive fall afternoon at The Stage Musical Theatre Academy's annual Haunted Harvest, taking place on October 26, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 50 Lorne Street.
The academy will open its studio doors to the public for an afternoon packed with seasonal activities, perfect for children aged 5 and up. Attendees can enjoy hands-on crafts, dress up in costumes, sip cozy fall drinks, and take in live musical performances by the academyβs talented students.
The event is open to everyone β whether you're a current student, a local family looking for weekend fun, or just curious about the world of musical theatre. Entry is $2 per person (cash only), and warm beverages will be available by donation. Official merchandise from The Stage will also be on sale, offering fans a chance to bring a piece of the magic home.
Haunted Harvest promises an engaging, family-friendly way to celebrate the season while exploring what The Stage Musical Theatre Academy has to offer.
