Indigenous artists are invited to apply for the 5th Annual New West Craft Indigenous Market, a vibrant celebration of culture, creativity, and community set against the scenic backdrop of the New West Quay.

The market will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., along the boardwalk in front of River Market. The event brings together talented Indigenous performers, artisans, and makers for a day of connection, storytelling, and artistic expression.

Organizers say the market is an opportunity for artists to showcase handcrafted works and unique creations while celebrating Indigenous culture in a welcoming riverside setting.

The call is open to Indigenous artists — First Nation, Métis, and Inuit. Artists must apply individually and are asked to bring their own tent and table.

Applications are being accepted until April 1, 2026, with limited vendor spots available.

The City of New Westminster has introduced its new Park Liaison Officer (PLO) Program, aimed at helping address non-emergency concerns in local parks and ensuring public spaces remain safe and welcoming for everyone.

In the early stages of the program, residents can expect to see PLOs patrolling Westminster Pier Park and along the Riverfront, with additional visits to parks throughout the city.

Park Liaison Officers are available to respond to concerns that are not emergencies but may impact the enjoyment of shared spaces. This includes issues such as vandalism and nuisance behaviour.

Residents can contact a PLO in two ways:

  • By phone: 604-524-4643 (monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week)

  • By email: [email protected] (monitored Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays)

The City reminds the public to call 9-1-1 in the event of an immediate threat to life, an active crime in progress, or open burning.

More information about the Park Liaison Officer Program is available at newwestcity.ca/plo.
