Want to add a little more green to your yard—or even your balcony? New Westminster’s Fall Tree Sale is returning this October, giving residents a chance to bring home a tree for just $10 while helping the city work toward its 2030 urban canopy goal.

The online-only sale begins Thursday, October 8 at 10 a.m. Residents can purchase up to two trees, with sales limited and available on a first-come basis.

And you don’t need a backyard to take part. The City is also highlighting tree options suitable for apartment and condominium balconies, giving more residents an opportunity to add greenery to their homes.

Residents should prepare before sale day by creating or confirming their online account and saving payment information in advance. The City recommends logging in right at 10 a.m. when the sale opens, with a desktop computer suggested for easier access.

Tree orders will be available for pickup on Saturday, October 24. All sales are final, with no exchanges or refunds.

The program supports New Westminster’s goal of reaching 27% canopy cover by 2030.

🌱 Get Ready to Grow New West

Get ready to raise a stein and say Prost! Steel & Oak Brewing Co. is bringing back its annual OAKtoberfest, turning its New Westminster brewery into a festive afternoon of beer, hearty eats and German-inspired fun.

The celebration takes place Saturday, September 26, from noon to 5 p.m., with plenty of food and beer ready to set the mood.

On the menu are pork schnitzel burgers, bratwurst platters and parmesan pretzels, with Steel & Oak’s Werkhaus Export Lager available to wash it all down.

The lager is already pouring at the brewery, giving local beer fans an early taste of the Oktoberfest-inspired celebration ahead of the main event.

Whether you're coming for the food, the beer or simply an excuse to gather with friends, OAKtoberfest promises a festive afternoon with plenty of New West craft-beer flavour.

So bring your appetite, bring your thirst and get ready to celebrate the season Steel & Oak style.
