A new and immersive art exhibition is coming to Amelia Douglas Gallery this January, inviting the community to experience storytelling in a beautifully unexpected form.
Opening Thursday, January 15, 2026, Journey is a solo exhibition by textile artist Natasha Boškić that explores the intersections of literary art and textile craftsmanship. The exhibit features striking multimedia wall hangings that weave together beadwork, macramé, crochet, tapestry, light art, and even QR codes that link visitors to virtual landscapes.
Through these layered works, Boškić reflects on themes of travel, displacement, cultural connection, and movement, blending traditional textile techniques with contemporary digital elements. Poetry is embedded directly into the pieces, creating an experience that invites viewers to both read and feel the stories woven into each artwork.
The opening reception runs from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at 700 Royal Avenue and is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to stop by, explore the exhibit, and connect with a unique artistic journey that bridges craft, narrative, and place.
As the New Year begins, a new six-week in-person group therapy series is inviting participants to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves through Re-Learning Self-Love, hosted at Wildfires Literary Lounge in New Westminster.
Running every Tuesday from January 13 to February 17, 2026, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., the group is intentionally timed for the post-holiday season—a period when conversations around body image, identity, relationships, and self-worth can feel especially challenging. The facilitated sessions focus on unlearning harmful internalized messages, including diet culture, purity culture, cis-heteronormativity, and ableism, while fostering compassion and radical self-acceptance.
Rather than confronting others, the group encourages participants to focus inward—building tools for self-love, resilience, and personal growth within a supportive community setting. The program emphasizes community care, healing justice, and connection, creating space for meaningful conversations and shared growth.
To make participation more accessible, 25% off all tickets is currently available using the code HOLIDAYS at registration. This offering is in-person only and limited in capacity.
