Today’s the final day to order your rain barrel and be part of the city’s push toward a greener, more sustainable community. Orders close tonight, October 17, and pickup happens tomorrow, Saturday, October 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Engineering Works Yard.
Rain barrels are an easy, affordable way to collect and reuse rainwater for your garden — giving your plants fresh, unchlorinated, oxygen-rich water they’ll love. Plus, you’ll be saving treated water and cutting down on costs when summer watering restrictions roll around.
Each barrel is just $74 + GST, and proof of New Westminster residency is required. You can order online or in person at City Hall, but hurry — this is your last chance in 2025 to get one!
Make sure you’re ready for spring with your very own rain barrel — sustainable, smart, and proudly New West!
The Vancouver Chamber Music Society launches its 2025/2026 New Westminster Series with an unforgettable afternoon of Romantic passion and musical mastery. On Monday, October 20, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Anvil Theatre will resonate with the expressive power of four exceptional soloists: Kevin Ahfat (piano), Sirena Huang (violin), Matthew Lipman (viola), and Nathan Chan (cello).
This opening performance, titled “Lines of Longing,” invites audiences on a sweeping journey through the heart of the Romantic era. The program begins with Rachmaninoff’s Trio élégiaque No. 1 in G minor, a hauntingly beautiful work filled with lyrical depth. Schumann’s Adagio and Allegro, Op. 70 follows, offering radiant warmth and tenderness. The concert reaches its grand conclusion with Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 47—a vibrant masterpiece that captures the essence of Romantic chamber music at its most stirring. 🎶
Together, these works create a rich tapestry of emotion and artistry, showcasing the extraordinary synergy of four world-class performers. It’s a concert that promises to awaken the senses and celebrate the timeless beauty of musical connection.
🎟️ Tickets: $29.50 plus service charges
📍 Location: Anvil Theatre, 777 Columbia Street, New Westminster
