Tomorrow, Uptown New Westminster turns into one big dance floor!
Get ready to feel the rhythm, learn some new moves, and soak up the summer energy as Latin Dance Fest takes over Uptown Plaza on Saturday, June 27.
From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the heart of Uptown will come alive with infectious Latin beats, live entertainment, dance lessons, and an open dance floor welcoming everyone—from seasoned dancers to complete beginners. No partner? No problem. No experience? Even better!
Whether you're looking to show off your salsa skills, try something new, or simply enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, this free community event promises an afternoon packed with music, culture, laughter, and plenty of opportunities to get moving.
Bring your friends, bring the family, or come solo and meet new people while enjoying one of New Westminster's most energetic summer celebrations. Between the lively rhythms, community spirit, and beautiful Uptown setting, it's the perfect way to kick off a summer weekend.
Latin Dance Fest is presented by the Hyack Festival Association in partnership with the Uptown Business Association, New West en Español, and the City of New Westminster.

Soccer has a unique ability to bring people together, and a special event in New Westminster aims to do exactly that for newcomer youth and families.
On Thursday, July 2, MOSAIC's SWIS (Settlement Workers in Schools) Youth Program will host Goals Without Borders, a free community soccer celebration at Moody Park's North Field.
Designed specifically for newcomer youth and their families, the event will offer a welcoming environment where participants can build connections, make new friends, and enjoy an afternoon of fun and active play. Activities will include soccer skill stations, mini-games, teamwork challenges, and mentorship opportunities led by youth leaders.
Beyond the sport itself, the event is intended to help families become more familiar with community spaces and recreational opportunities in New Westminster. Participants will have the chance to explore local parks and sports fields while connecting with other newcomer families from across the city.
As New Westminster continues to grow as a diverse and welcoming community, events like Goals Without Borders help foster inclusion, belonging, and community engagement through the universal language of sport.
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to attend.

New Prize Alert: First Detective on the Scene
We have a brand-new monthly prize in the How Well Do You Know New West? game!
A big thank you to Dynamic Health & Fitness and Fuel Hut for partnering with us on the new First Detective on the Scene monthly prize draw.
Here’s how it works:
Each day, the first person to correctly identify the mystery location will be named our First Detective on the Scene.
At the end of the month, every First Detective entry goes into our spinning wheel. So if you are first once, your name goes in once. If you are first five times, your name goes in five times.
And yes, that means our super-speedy detectives still get rewarded for being quick — but everyone has a chance when the wheel spins.
We love our spinning wheel.
Thank you again to Dynamic Health & Fitness and Fuel Hut for helping us add another fun layer to the game and another reason to keep playing every day.
