New Westminster is celebrating Latin American Heritage Month with a citywide adventure inviting residents to discover local businesses, cultural experiences and community events through the New West Latin Fest 2026 digital passport.

Running from October 15 to November 2, the free initiative from Tourism New Westminster encourages participants to explore the city while experiencing the flavours, creativity, traditions and cultural diversity of Latin America.

The digital passport makes it easy to turn a day around New West into an interactive discovery tour. Participants can visit participating restaurants, businesses, cultural organizations, events and community partners, checking in at each stop to collect points and unlock rewards.

The more places and experiences participants discover, the more points they can earn toward New Westminster-themed prizes. Along the way, they can try something new, attend cultural celebrations and workshops, and learn more about the Latin American community in the Royal City.

Getting started is simple and free. Once registered, the digital passport is delivered by text and email, with no app download required. At participating locations, visitors scan a QR code to check in and accumulate points.

Need help setting up your passport? Tourism New Westminster offers assistance at its Visitor Centre inside Anvil Centre at 777 Columbia Street.

Whether you're a longtime New West resident or exploring the city for the first time, the Latin Fest passport offers a fun way to support local businesses, discover new favourites and celebrate Latin American culture right here in the community.

New Westminster residents who shop at Costco may want to check their pantry after a turkey gravy recall was issued over an undeclared allergen.

Kevin’s Natural Foods is recalling its 1.33-litre boxes of Turkey Gravy sold at Costco warehouses in British Columbia and several other provinces between September and October 2026.

The concern? The gravy contains mustard that was not declared on the label, which could trigger a serious or potentially life-threatening reaction in people with a mustard allergy or sensitivity.

Check these details:

If you have the affected product, do not consume it. Costco customers can return it to a warehouse for a full refund.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has listed the product in its food recall notices. If you’re unsure whether your package is affected, compare its details with the official notice before using it.

Have you checked your pantry lately? Share this alert with anyone who may have purchased the gravy.

🎁 This week’s prize (October 15 - October 21):
Win EFry Merch, donor pickleball paddle and ball, and power bank from Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver.
