New Westminster residents are invited to hear directly from Mayor Patrick Johnstone during this year’s State of the City: On the Road event at Century House.
Returning for a second year in this public format, the event offers a candid look at where the city stands today, including the progress made over the past year, the challenges facing the community, and what lies ahead for New Westminster.
Mayor Johnstone will also share updates on major city initiatives, key priorities, and the partnerships helping move projects and community goals forward.
A live Question and Answer session will follow the address, giving residents an opportunity to engage directly and ask questions about issues impacting the city.
The event takes place on May 27 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Century House, located at 620 8th Street. Admission is free, with registration encouraged. Drop ins are also welcome.
Celebrate Vyshyvanka Day with a creative evening that blends Ukrainian tradition with modern design.
The “Vyshyvanka Remix” workshop invites participants to create a minimalist art poster or postcard inspired by traditional embroidery, paper art, and personal photographs. Guests will leave with a framed handmade piece that reflects their own story and creativity.
No experience is needed. Organizers will provide templates, ideas, and guidance throughout the workshop, with all materials included.
Participants are encouraged to bring a printed photo that is meaningful to them, whether vintage or modern.
The workshop is open to adults and teens and is designed for anyone looking to relax, recharge, and connect with culture in a fresh and creative way.
The workshop takes place at River Market, #207 – 810 Quayside Drive in New Westminster, on May 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration is $30, and space is limited. To reserve a spot, email [email protected]
