The New Westminster Police Department is seeking public assistance following a robbery and assault that occurred in Moody Park.
Around 5:20 p.m. on October 17th, officers responded to reports of an incident at the park’s lacrosse box, where two men had been attacked. According to investigators, the victims were approached by a group of three young men. One of the suspects allegedly punched a victim in the face and took cash from his wallet before the group fled.
Police searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspects. They are now asking anyone with information or video footage to come forward, particularly drivers who were near 8th Street and Eighth Avenue around the time of the incident.
The suspects are described as South Asian males, each about 18 years old. The first was around 5’11” with a slim build, black hair, and wearing a red sweatshirt. The second had black hair and blue jeans. The third had a slim build, wore a dark hooded sweatshirt with a yellow puffer vest, and was seen riding a black electric scooter.

The City of New Westminster is reviewing its hiring procedures following the brief employment of a staff member reportedly connected to an ongoing investigation in a neighbouring municipality.
The employee, who previously worked for the City of Richmond, was recently hired by New Westminster but released shortly after details surfaced regarding Richmond’s ongoing review of a community gift-card program. That investigation remains active and has drawn region-wide attention.
While no official statement has yet been issued, city representatives are said to be examining internal recruitment and vetting protocols to ensure strong oversight moving forward.
This review comes amid broader public discussions across Metro Vancouver about transparency and accountability in local government operations.
