Join the circle. Find your flow. Let the narrative lead.

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Indigenous Brilliance invites you to Wildfires Bookshop in New Westminster for Moon Water Words: Finding Your Flow by Softening Your Gaze—an intimate writing circle guided by celebrated Métis/Icelandic poet and essayist Jónína Kirton.

After the warm success of the inaugural March circle, this second gathering offers a chance to slow down, reconnect, and explore storytelling through meditation, creativity, and community. Whether you’re new to writing or an experienced voice on the page, all skill levels are welcome.

Participants will be guided through gentle meditation, receive a writing prompt, and spend time crafting their thoughts in poetry, prose, or anything in between. Kirton—author of Page as Bone Ink as Blood, Standing in a River of Time, and Save Your Prayers – Send Money—shares wisdom on letting go of control and trusting the stories that want to emerge.

Light refreshments and writing materials will be provided. Masks are required and will be available on-site to ensure accessibility and community care. 🫶

🌿 This event is open to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cis and trans women, Two-Spirit, trans men, nonbinary folks, and Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and beyond.

📍 Location: Wildfires Bookshop, 712B 12th Street, New Westminster
📅 Date: Saturday, August 16, 2025
🕐 Time: 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM
🎟️ Cost: Free (registration required)

Big news from one of New West’s most beloved cultural landmarks—Massey Theatre is celebrating 75 incredible years of arts, community, and creativity! Since opening its doors in December 1949, Massey has been a stage for unforgettable performances and a gathering place for generations. Now, it’s stepping into the spotlight once again—this time with a bold vision for the future. 💫

A multi-year renovation project is officially in motion, and it’s transforming Massey Theatre and the Eighth&Eight Creative Spaces Complex into a more modern, accessible, and sustainable arts hub than ever before.

🚧 What’s coming?
✔️ 98% improved energy efficiency
✔️ 22 universal bathrooms for an inclusive guest experience
✔️ Expanded wheelchair accessibility
✔️ Major interior and exterior upgrades to enhance comfort and creativity

With lots already accomplished, construction is picking up speed this summer—and when we welcome you back this fall, you’ll get to see just how stunning the transformation really is.

This revitalization is made possible thanks to a significant investment from the City of New Westminster, and it reflects a deep commitment to the arts, accessibility, and community connection.

Here’s to 75 years of Massey magic—and many more to come!
