A motorcycle rider was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries following a collision with a pickup truck in New Westminster on Wednesday afternoon.

The New Westminster Police Department responded to the crash at the intersection of Eighth Avenue and Eighth Street at approximately 2 p.m. on September 16, 2026.

The motorcycle rider was transported to hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with police as investigators work to determine what happened.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and police have not yet determined the cause of the collision.

The intersection remained closed while officers investigated the scene, with motorists asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Police are also asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash to contact the New Westminster Police Department.

Taking place Wednesday, September 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Queensborough Community Centre, the workshop will introduce participants to options including public transit and bike-share programs.

Presented by BEST Mobility in partnership with the City of New Westminster, the session is designed for newcomers learning their way around New West as well as anyone curious about alternative transportation.

Participants will learn about multi-modal commuting, along with practical skills and resources for getting around the city safely and sustainably.

The all-ages workshop is a chance to discover transportation options that can make everyday trips more flexible while reducing reliance on a car.
