Are you a budding musician, a seasoned performer, or a regular at your local open mic? The New West Farmers Market is now accepting performer applications for the 2026 season, and this is your chance to share your sound with the community.

The market is looking for talented local musicians who want to perform live for hundreds of weekly visitors in one of the city’s most vibrant community spaces. Performers are paid an hourly rate and provided with everything they need to succeed — including a tent, chairs, and a full four-hour performance slot.

Whether you’re a solo artist, part of a duo, or bringing a unique musical style to the stage, this is a great opportunity to gain exposure, connect with new audiences, and be part of a beloved New Westminster tradition.

If you’re ready to showcase your talent and help create the soundtrack of market days, applications are now open.

Are you a New Westminster–based author, illustrator, publisher, or educator—or do you know someone who is? A special opportunity is open to help celebrate BC-made children’s books.

Children’s Writers and Illustrators of British Columbia (CWILL BC) is inviting submissions for consideration in its 2027 K–7 Young Readers’ Choice Award shortlist. Eligible titles include children’s books published in 2025 or earlier, written or illustrated by creators who have lived in British Columbia for at least three of the last five years.

This is a chance for New West voices and stories to be recognized alongside outstanding children’s literature from across the province—and to reach young readers, educators, and libraries.

If you know a book that deserves to be seen, or if you’re a local creator yourself, don’t miss this opportunity to support BC storytelling and children’s literacy.
