Looking to clear out old electronics this spring? The New Westminster Police Department is partnering with the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) to offer free electronics recycling for the community.

Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted devices while protecting your personal data and electronic information. ERA will securely data clean donated items before recycling or refurbishing them for reuse.

Residents can conveniently drop off electronics through a drive-through pickup or park and unload items with help from volunteers.

Accepted items include:

  • Desktop computers and laptops (PC & Mac)

  • Smartphones, tablets, and handheld devices

  • Printers, scanners, copiers, and fax machines

  • Gaming consoles, stereo equipment, and other consumer electronics

  • Peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and accessories

  • Servers, networking equipment, and phone systems

Before donating, please ensure remote management is disabled, and all passwords or security locks (including BIOS locks) are removed from devices. This helps prevent potential data breaches when devices are refurbished or redistributed.

⚠️ Please note: Personal or household appliances will not be accepted.

Curious about trying a new sport? The community is invited to Try Sports Day on Sunday, April 19 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., a free event where families and youth can explore a variety of local sports and recreation activities all in one place.

Hosted by City of New Westminster Parks and Recreation, the event brings together local minor sports organizations and activity groups so residents can learn more about programs available in the community. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions, meet organizers, and try hands-on activities.

Some of the activities featured include ball hockey, lacrosse, ringette, circus skills, and more β€” making it a fun afternoon for participants of all ages and skill levels.

The event is free and open to everyone, and no registration is required β€” just drop by and give it a try.

Try Sports Day is presented by Play New West, a collaboration between the City of New Westminster, New Westminster Parks and Recreation, Red Fox Society, Fraser Health, and New Westminster Schools.
