The New Westminster Police Department’s long-running Kids Summer Soccer School returns to Queen’s Park Stadium from July 14 to July 18, 2025, welcoming over 300 children aged 5 to 10 for a dynamic week of soccer, learning, and community connection.
Launched in 1981, this beloved camp has grown into a flagship program for the NWPD, blending recreation, mentorship, and public service in one action-packed week. While soccer skills are the heart of the program, the experience goes far beyond the game. Campers will enjoy interactive highlights like a Police Service Dog demonstration, hands-on time with police vehicles, and a special visit from the New Westminster Fire Department.
Participants are grouped into teams led by police officers and youth volunteer coaches, many of whom are local soccer players or program alumni. This approach fosters a sense of teamwork and positive interaction between young residents and law enforcement in a safe, welcoming environment.
Running daily from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, the Soccer School provides structure, skill-building, and plenty of summer fun for local families.
📍 Event Location: Queen’s Park Stadium, New Westminster
📅 Dates: Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18, 2025
🕗 Time: 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM daily
🎯 Ages: 5 to 10 years

2025 NWPD Kids Summer Soccer School – Event Information
Big news for New Westminster residents and visitors—the long-awaited reconnection of the waterfront walkway is here! As of June 30, pathways linking Westminster Pier Park, River Market, and the Waterfront Esplanade are officially open, welcoming pedestrians and cyclists back to one of the city’s most iconic riverside routes.
This reopening marks a major step forward in restoring public access along the Fraser River, offering a refreshed experience of the waterfront just in time for summer strolls, scenic bike rides, and community gatherings.
🛠️ Still in Progress—And Getting Better
While the route is now open, visitors should note that the area remains a work in progress. Construction and landscaping crews are actively refining the space, and temporary wayfinding signage has been installed to ensure safe and accessible navigation.
Two key phased route updates are on the horizon:
July 7: A new alignment will bring pedestrians closer to the water’s edge
August: Final routing updates and finishing details will continue as delayed materials arrive
💬 An Evolving Waterfront Experience
The city thanks residents and guests for their patience throughout the construction process. The reopening not only reconnects key public spaces but also signals the start of an evolving and revitalized waterfront experience.
So whether you're heading to the River Market for a bite, biking along the boardwalk, or enjoying the view from Pier Park, make sure to explore the new access and watch the space transform all summer long.
