New Westminster drivers should plan ahead this week as overnight road closures and detours begin Monday, June 8, near Victoria Hill, East Royal Avenue, and lower McBride Boulevard.

As part of the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project, crews will complete final paving work at the East Royal Avenue and McBride Boulevard intersection over approximately three nights, with construction taking place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The work will require overnight closures of East Royal Avenue, as well as northbound closures and southbound lane restrictions on lower McBride Boulevard through June 10. While access to Victoria Hill will remain available via Memorial Drive, drivers should expect detours, changing traffic patterns, and longer-than-usual travel times.

Residents in the area may also notice overnight construction noise while paving work is underway.

Motorists travelling through the area are encouraged to allow extra time, watch for traffic control personnel, and follow posted detour signs.

Calling all Pokémon Trainers, collectors, and fans! The RCC Pokémon Trade Show is coming to Royal City Centre on June 14, bringing a full day of trading, collectibles, giveaways, and Pokémon community fun to New Westminster.

Whether you're hunting for that elusive card, looking to complete your collection, or simply wanting to connect with fellow fans, this free event promises plenty to explore. Visitors can browse offerings from more than 65 vendors and collectors, participate in live trading sessions, discover unique Pokémon merchandise, and enter exciting raffle draws and giveaways throughout the day.

The event is expected to attract collectors from across the Lower Mainland, making it one of the largest Pokémon-focused gatherings in New Westminster this summer.

The RCC Pokémon Trade Show runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the second floor of Royal City Centre, located at 610 Sixth Street. Admission is free, but advance registration is encouraged.

Whether you're a seasoned collector or just beginning your Pokémon journey, this is one event you won't want to miss.
