Calling all dog lovers! Grab your leash and your four-legged best friend because Paws on the Patio is returning to Starlight Casino for an afternoon dedicated to fun, community, and helping local animals.

On Sunday, July 12, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Starlight Casino New Westminster will welcome guests and their pups for a pet-friendly celebration featuring prizes, giveaways, and plenty of tail-wagging excitement.

Best of all, the event supports a great cause. A portion of proceeds will benefit the New Westminster Animal Shelter, helping provide care and support for animals waiting to find their forever homes.

Admission is free, and the event will take place rain or shine, making it the perfect outing for families, friends, and their canine companions.

Even if you can't attend, you can still support the shelter by making a donation through the City of New Westminster's Animal Services website.

Whether you come for the prizes, the adorable dogs, or simply to support a worthwhile cause, every wagging tail helps make a difference.

Package thieves, take note: the New Westminster Police Department wants you to think twice.

The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) is offering free "Bait Packages Are Everywhere" posters to strata councils and residents of multi-family buildings as part of its efforts to discourage package theft.

The posters warn would-be thieves that the package they're about to steal could actually be a bait package planted by police as part of an anti-theft operation.

With online shopping continuing to grow, package theft remains a concern for many apartment and condo residents. Displaying these posters in lobbies, mailrooms, and other common areas is a simple way to raise awareness and help deter opportunistic thieves.

Strata councils, property managers, and residents interested in displaying the posters can pick them up free of charge at the NWPD front counter.

It's a small step that could help make your building a less attractive target for porch pirates.
