A pedestrian was taken to hospital early February 28 following a hit-and-run collision near 11th Street and Queens Avenue.
According to investigators, the man called 9-1-1 after being struck by the driver of a dark SUV, which then fled the scene heading south on 11th Street. Emergency crews, including BC Emergency Health Services paramedics, responded quickly. The pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are now canvassing the area for CCTV footage and are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident — or who may have dash cam video — to come forward. Footage from nearby homes, businesses, or vehicles could be key to identifying the vehicle and driver involved.
Anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage from the area of 11th Street and Queens Avenue between 1:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on February 28 is asked to call 604-525-5411.

The New Westminster Chamber Business Excellence Awards takes place on April 18, 2026, from 6 p.m. to midnight, bringing together entrepreneurs, organizations, and community leaders for an evening of recognition and connection.
This premier event goes beyond an awards ceremony — it’s a celebration of innovation, resilience, and the people driving our local economy forward. From emerging trailblazers to long-standing industry icons, excellence will be honoured across 13 award categories, showcasing the diversity and strength of New West’s business community.
Nominations are open until March 5, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The Chamber will follow up with nominees after the deadline with next steps.
