A stretch of SkyTrain infrastructure in New Westminster has received a vibrant artistic upgrade.
TransLink recently unveiled new Indigenous public art wraps on seven Expo Line columns beside the newly completed BC Parkway pedestrian and cycling pathway along Stewardson Way.
The installation is located between 5th Avenue and 14th Street, where the upgraded pathway now provides improved connections for walkers and cyclists travelling through the area.
Previously plain concrete supports, the SkyTrain columns now feature bold Indigenous-inspired artwork that adds colour, identity, and visual interest to the corridor.
The project is part of TransLink’s broader efforts to integrate public art into transit infrastructure while enhancing community spaces across Metro Vancouver.
The new pathway segment itself was built to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists using the BC Parkway route alongside the Expo Line.
Residents passing through the area have already begun noticing the transformation, with the artwork bringing a more welcoming and vibrant atmosphere to the busy transportation corridor.
The installation also highlights the growing role of Indigenous art in public spaces throughout the region.
📍The art-wrapped columns can be found along Stewardson Way between 5th Avenue and 14th Street in New Westminster.
Looking for a cozy live music night with real connection and local talent? The Cat Murphy Band is bringing a unique living room style concert experience to New Westminster this May.
Hosted at the Mechanics of Music Studio, this intimate evening will feature favourite songs, behind the scenes stories, and even a sneak peek at works in progress. Guests will also have a chance to help the band choose the next song they record in studio.
The concert takes place on Thursday, May 21 at 8:00 p.m. at 208 Osborne Avenue in New Westminster. Admission is by donation, and everyone is welcome.
Organizers encourage guests to bring a friend, settle in, and be part of a night centered around music, creativity, and community.
