Hope is taking centre stage in Uptown New West this September — with a big lineup of music, family activities and community connections.
The 14th annual Recovery Day BC returns to New Westminster on Saturday, September 12, bringing a free street festival to the area around 6th Avenue and 6th Street from noon to 6 p.m. The event celebrates recovery from addiction while promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma and connecting people with community resources.
And yes, there’s plenty of entertainment. Cameron Whitcomb takes the main stage at 3 p.m., followed by Jann Arden at 5 p.m. Visitors can also explore four music stages, food trucks, artisans, community booths and mental health and addiction service providers.
Families can make a day of it with a Kids Zone and Adventure Zone, while an overdose memorial area offers space to remember those lost to addiction. The festival is designed for everyone — whether you're personally connected to recovery, supporting someone who is, or simply want to learn, listen and be part of the community.
With tens of thousands of people expected, Recovery Day BC is more than a festival — it’s a chance for New West to come together around a message of hope, connection and recovery.

New Westminster is set for an evening of live music, dancing and local arts when the New Westminster Film Society hosts a fundraiser featuring B.C. alternative pop-rock duo Cold Fame.
The event takes place Wednesday, September 16, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Centennial Lodge, bringing together music lovers and supporters of the local arts community.
Cold Fame, known for blending alternative rock with electronic and pop influences, will headline the evening with a live performance. Guests can also hit the dance floor, enjoy a drink and take part in a 50/50 raffle and silent auction.
The event will also showcase local Indigenous art, highlighting artists and creative work from the community.
Proceeds will support the New Westminster Film Society and Arts New West, helping fund independent film, diverse storytelling and accessible arts programming in the city.
The event is 19+, with ID required at the door. Free parking is available.
