💰️ $45K Casino Fraud Leads to Charges in New Westminster Investigation

Two residents of the Lower Mainland are facing fraud charges following a joint investigation into suspicious activity at several B.C. casinos, including one in New Westminster.

The investigation, led by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit’s Joint Illegal Gaming Investigation Team in partnership with the Gaming Policy Enforcement Branch, began in April after reports of fraudulent transactions surfaced across multiple casino locations. Over roughly two weeks between mid-March and early April, investigators determined that approximately $45,000 had been obtained through a coordinated scheme.

One of the individuals implicated was employed at a New Westminster casino during that period. On July 23, officers arrested both suspects in separate locations in Surrey and New Westminster, with assistance from White Rock RCMP and the New Westminster Police Department.

The BC Prosecution Service has since approved charges. Yu Ju (Jessica) Lu, 50, of White Rock, and Inderjit Singh, 39, of New Westminster, are each charged with Fraud Over $5,000. Both individuals later surrendered to police and were released on conditions pending upcoming court dates.

The investigation highlights collaborative efforts between provincial enforcement teams to safeguard the integrity of B.C.’s gaming sector.
