Community reports about suspicious activity near Clute Street have led to a police investigation that resulted in the seizure of drugs, weapons, and cash from an RV.
In late 2025, officers began receiving multiple calls from residents concerned about suspected drug trafficking and unusual activity linked to people frequently coming and going from a parked RV in the area. The New Westminster Police Department’s Street Crime Unit took over the investigation and spent several weeks gathering evidence.
Police later obtained a search warrant for the RV. During the search, officers seized prohibited weapons, several airsoft pistols, two batons, cash, and suspected crack cocaine and methamphetamine.
The RV was towed at the owner’s expense. A man and woman were arrested and later released with court dates and court-ordered conditions.
Police say community tips played a key role in advancing the investigation and identifying the activity.
Anyone with information about suspected drug trafficking or suspicious activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
Visitors planning a trip to Irving House should note that the historic site will be temporarily closed while restoration work is underway.
According to the New Westminster Museum & Archives, Irving House will be closed from March 2 to March 22 to allow for maintenance and restoration efforts aimed at preserving the historic building.
Built in the 1860s, Irving House is one of New Westminster’s most treasured heritage landmarks and offers visitors a glimpse into the city’s early history and daily life during the Victorian era. Periodic restoration work helps ensure the house and its artifacts remain protected for future generations.
Museum staff say they look forward to welcoming visitors back once the work is complete and appreciate the public’s patience during the closure
