Two New Westminster police officers escaped serious injury after their patrol vehicle was rear-ended on Stewardson Way on August 5.

The collision happened at approximately 7 p.m. Officers exited their vehicle and spoke with the driver, leading to an impaired-driving investigation.

The driver refused to provide a breath sample and was subsequently issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition. Her driver's licence was confiscated and her vehicle was towed from the scene.

A group of approximately 15 motorcyclists also stopped and spoke with police. The group reported witnessing dangerous driving behaviour before the collision and provided video evidence to investigators.

The footage helped police issue an additional ticket for driving without due care and attention.

Police said the incident could have had more serious consequences, but no one was seriously injured. The department also thanked motorists for their patience during the significant police presence on Stewardson Way and recognized the motorcyclists for assisting with the investigation.

Got a 1,000-piece puzzle sitting on the shelf that you've finished one too many times? The New Westminster Public Library is inviting puzzle fans to swap it for a new challenge at its upcoming Puzzle Exchange.

The drop-in event gives participants a chance to bring a high-quality, 1,000-piece puzzle they no longer want and exchange it for a different one. It's a simple way to refresh your puzzle collection while giving a favourite pastime a second life.

To participate, bring a 1,000-piece puzzle in good condition with all pieces included. Puzzles should be comparable in quality to brands such as Ravensburger, Cobble Hill, Eurographics or other art-puzzle makers.

The Puzzle Exchange takes place Tuesday, September 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the iConnect LAB on the top floor of the New Westminster Public Library's Main Branch.

No registration is required—the event is drop-in.

So, if you're ready to trade a familiar image for a fresh challenge, grab that completed puzzle and head to the library.
