The Fraser River is full of stories waiting to be told, and this August long weekend, the Fraser River Discovery Centre is inviting families to dive right in! From August 30 to September 1, the Centre will come alive with Summer Discovery Days: The River’s in Our Hands—a celebration of fun, learning, and connection to the mighty Fraser.
Visitors can roll up their sleeves for hands-on activities that shine a spotlight on how our choices affect the river and its wildlife. Test how water clarity shapes underwater ecosystems, discover the real impact of plastic pollution through a lively storytime, and sharpen your eco-knowledge at a myth-busting station. Kids and adults alike will love the fast-paced stacking game that reveals smart recycling habits.
With programs running throughout the day, there’s something to spark curiosity at every turn. Whether you’re a family looking for an educational adventure or a lifelong learner fascinated by the river’s role in our daily lives, this event is designed to inspire and engage.

✨ Don’t miss your chance to celebrate, learn, and play by the river this summer.
Calling all girls ages 11 to 14—this fall, it’s time to hit the court! Starting September 9, the G2 Just Play Girls Volleyball program is serving up a season full of energy, teamwork, and fun at the təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic & Community Centre.
Running every Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm through November 25, this program is designed to be welcoming and supportive—perfect for both brand-new players and those who already love the game. With guided instruction, participants will build confidence in core volleyball skills like serving, passing, and teamwork, while also enjoying plenty of scrimmage-style play.
Beyond the sport itself, Just Play creates a space where girls can connect, stay active, and discover the joy of learning in a positive, low-pressure environment. It’s a chance to grow as an athlete while having fun alongside new friends.
