New Westminster’s Saturdays just got a serious upgrade! The Uptown Live Summer Series is back and turning Uptown into the ultimate weekend hangout — with live music, local talent, and good vibes filling the air from June 28 to August 30, 2025.

This free, open-air series transforms plazas, patios, and sidewalks into pop-up stages where local performers bring their sound straight to the streets. Whether you're sipping coffee on a patio, strolling through the neighborhood, or dancing in the plaza — there's something magical happening around every corner.

🎶 This Saturday, July 5 – Catch These Amazing Acts!
• Cat Murphy – Her blend of clever storytelling and folk-rock hooks will have you laughing, swaying, and maybe even shedding a tear.
• Matt Hermano – Expect smooth vocals and soulful grooves as he blends 70s Motown with early 2000s flair. Original tunes, unforgettable covers — pure summer soundtrack material!

🎨 Art in Moody Park Returns This July with Music, Workshops & Creativity! 🎶

Get ready to make art, enjoy live music, and soak up the summer vibes—Art in Moody Park is back for another vibrant season of creativity! Presented in partnership with Senior Services, this free community arts program is happening every Tuesday in July at the lush green space behind Century House in New Westminster.

Each week alternates between hands-on artist workshops and live musical performances, all taking place from 1–3 p.m. (with live music performances running from 1–2 p.m.). No registration is needed—just drop by, bring your curiosity, and enjoy the artistic energy of the park!

Here’s what’s coming up:

🧶 July 8: Felted Mushrooms & Pea Pods with Lynda Schmidt

1–3 p.m.
Discover the magic of needle felting in this fun, beginner-friendly workshop. Lynda Schmidt will guide participants in crafting whimsical felted mushrooms or adorable pea pods. All materials are provided—just bring your imagination and enjoy the creative flow with fellow makers!

🎸 July 15: Live Music by Etienne Siew

1–2 p.m.
Vancouver’s own Etienne Siew brings heartfelt storytelling and warm guitar melodies to Moody Park. With influences rooted in Folk and Roots music, Etienne’s powerful vocals and thoughtful lyrics create an intimate performance that feels both personal and universal. Let his music take you on a journey through sound and story.

🌳 July 22: Summer Tree Ornaments with Merril Hall

1–3 p.m.
Add a pop of colour to your summer with a playful workshop led by Merril Hall. Create your very own tree ornament, using provided supplies in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. No experience necessary—just show up and enjoy some hands-on art-making in the sun.

🌺 July 29: Live Music by Nate Batara

1–2 p.m.
Straight from Hawaii and now calling B.C. home, Nate Batara blends his island roots with influences of jazz, blues, folk, and reggae. Using his guitar, looper, and smooth vocals, Nate delivers tranquil tunes that instantly transport you to peaceful coastal scenes. Don’t miss this soul-soothing performance to wrap up the month.
