Get ready to eat, dance, and celebrate summer the Bengali way—because the BongMilanti Summer Picnic 2025 is almost here! Mark your calendar for Saturday, July 12, as the laughter, flavors, and rhythms of Charuibhati take over Port Royal Park in New Westminster starting at 10:00 AM.

This annual picnic isn’t just a get-together—it’s a full-blown cultural carnival under the open sky. From sizzling Bengali street food to foot-tapping music and high-energy games, the event promises a day of vibrant connection and non-stop fun for all ages.

Expect picnic blankets scattered across the green park, the aroma of freshly cooked biryani and snacks wafting through the air, and kids darting between games while parents join in impromptu dance circles. Whether you're playing, eating, or just soaking in the energy, there's never a dull moment.

At the heart of it all is the spirit of community—bringing together families, friends, and newcomers to celebrate heritage, sunshine, and summer joy in one of New Westminster’s most scenic parks.

📍 Where: Port Royal Park, 215 Salter St, New Westminster, BC
📅 When: Saturday, July 12, 2025
🕙 Time: Starting at 10:00 AM

So pack your picnic basket, wear your brightest outfit, and bring your appetite—and your dancing shoes! The BongMilanti Summer Picnic is more than an event. It’s a memory in the making.

What if taking care of yourself started with learning? This summer, you’re invited to a gentle, welcoming space where knowledge becomes a powerful act of love.

The Lounge & Learn series is a free, four-week journey into health literacy, hosted every Tuesday evening from July 22 to August 12 at Wildfires Bookshop’s Literary Lounge in New Westminster. With the cozy setting of a bookshop and the support of local health advocates, these gatherings will explore how early screening and honest conversations can help us care more deeply—for ourselves and for the people we love.

Each evening focuses on a different cancer screening topic:

  • July 22 – Lung Cancer

  • July 29 – Colon Cancer

  • August 5 – Breast Cancer

  • August 12 – Cervical Cancer

Presented by @orukuttycommunity and BC Cancer, these interactive sessions will include trivia, myth-busting, and practical tools like on-site cervix self-screening kits and mammogram bookings for those eligible. Whether you're attending to support your own well-being or to help someone you care about, each night is a step toward empowered, preventative care.

🕰️ When: Tuesdays, 7:30–9:00 PM
📍 Where: Wildfires Bookshop, 712 B 12th Street, New Westminster, BC
🔗 Register: bit.ly/sexedjoefi

Come to one or come to all—every session is a chance to sit down, learn together, and take up space in your own healing journey. 💬📚
