👮 Suspicious Fire Destroys New Westminster Business, Police Seek Red Van 🚨 

The New Westminster Police Department is investigating a suspicious fire that broke out in the early hours of August 11. The blaze, reported around 2:42 a.m., heavily damaged an unoccupied business in the 600 block of 12th Street.

The Major Crime Unit has taken charge of the case and is working in partnership with New Westminster Fire and Rescue Service. Investigators are particularly interested in a red van that was seen leaving the area at the time of the incident.

Authorities are asking residents and business owners nearby to review any surveillance or dashcam footage captured between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. that may show the vehicle or other suspicious activity. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Major Crime Unit tip line or send details by email to assist in the investigation.

Get ready, curlers — the Royal City Curling Club is rolling out the welcome mat for one of the most exciting youth curling events of the year! From Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21, the 2025 Anita Cochrane Memorial West Coast Junior Classic will bring together some of the brightest young talent on the ice.

This year’s competition features three thrilling divisions: U20 boys, U20 girls, and the Challenge category for U16 players. With only 22 team spots available, the race to register is on! Every game will be eight ends of strategy, skill, and sweeping action.

And it’s not just about competition — Saturday evening will see teams gather for a fun and friendly dinner, giving players and coaches a chance to connect, share stories, and celebrate the sport they love.
