Get ready to clap, cheer, groan, and sing along as The Little Mermaid makes a joyful splash in New Westminster from January 2 to 4, 2026, presented by the Royal Canadian Theatre Company. This traditional British pantomime brings the beloved underwater tale to life with big laughs, bold characters, and plenty of audience participation.

The story follows Ariel’s hopeful journey as she chases her dreams—while the delightfully devious Ursula tries to foil her plans. Along the way, audiences will meet unforgettable characters like Dame Chef Phishandchips, Flounder, and Bisque. Expect toe-tapping songs, cheeky jokes, sparkling sets, and colourful costumes that keep both kids and adults entertained from start to finish.

Designed as a perfect holiday treat for the whole family, the show invites audiences to boo the baddies, cheer the heroes, and enjoy classic panto fun. 🛴⚠️ Police Urge Caution After E-Scooter Collision in New Westminster

The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) is reminding residents—especially parents—about the risks of electric kick scooters following a collision on December 21 at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 7th Street.

Officers responded shortly after 12 p.m. to a crash involving a motor vehicle and an electric kick scooter. The scooter rider was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation.

Police say the incident comes amid several recent collisions involving young riders, including one as young as 12 years old. NWPD emphasized that electric kick scooters are currently illegal on public roads and sidewalks in New Westminster, as the city is not part of B.C.’s Electric Kick Scooter Pilot Project. In pilot communities, riders must be at least 16, wear helmets, and follow speed limits.

NWPD says it will continue education and enforcement efforts to prevent further injuries and thanked members of the public who stopped to assist at the scene.
